DARTMOUTH, Mass. – A ribbon cutting event will be held at University of Massachusetts Dartmouth’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Friday to launch its RapidLab prototyping operation, the school announced Tuesday.
The lab, which will support multiple startup businesses located on the campus, will house 3-D printers, 3-D scanners and other equipment which can quickly produce prototypes for testing and fine-tuning purposes.
The facility was made possible in-part by a $250,000 grant from the Massachusetts Seaport Economic Council.
In addition to UMass Dartmouth-based companies, regional businesses will also have access to RapidLab services.
Massachusetts Lt. Governor Karyn Polito, state congressmen and UMass Dartmouth chancellor Robert Johnson are expected to attend the event, which will take place Friday, Aug. 25 at 11:00 a.m. at the CIE located at 151 Martine Street in Fall River, Mass. Following the ribbon cutting ceremony there will tours of the facility and product demonstrations by in-house companies.
